Stable power supply in the operating theatre - thanks to a repaired generator!

Thanks to Daniel, there are no more fatal incidents in the operating theatre!

A stable energy supply - an important step for Jimma hospital

Diagnosis: infected and complicated fracture of the left tibia. Patient "Meshesha" (21), a mother of three, was hit by a moped. She travelled on foot for 10 days, leaving her family behind, and her life is in danger on arrival at hospital.

Dr Mohamed, an Ethiopian surgeon trained by the GO STAR team, and his nursing staff attended to the patient. An operation is performed and Meshesha is anaesthetised. Everything went according to plan.

Then all of a sudden: a power cut!
A death sentence for the young mother.

Until now, such a tragic case was unfortunately not an isolated one at Jimma's trauma surgery centre. But there is now hope. The broken generator has been repaired by Daniel (pictured) with the help of funds from the foundation.

A stable power supply: what a natural step for Switzerland - and what an important step for Ethiopia.

Thank you, Daniel! As soon as the power goes off at the hospital, the generator starts up and saves the next patient.
